How We Screen Every Installer in Our Network
We do not accept payment from contractors to be listed, and we do not refer homeowners to anyone who has not passed the criteria below. Anyone who delivers a poor outcome for one of our referrals is removed. That is the only accountability mechanism that actually works.
Valid Ontario Installer Licence
Certificate of Qualification in Sewage System Installation verified at ontario.ca/collegoftrades — not just claimed. An expired licence is an immediate disqualifier, no exceptions.
Insurance and WSIB Confirmed
Minimum $2M general liability and active WSIB coverage, documents on file. A contractor who cannot produce these does not enter the network.
Proven Regional Experience
Verifiable references from completed jobs in your specific region within the last 12 months. Soil conditions and Health Unit processes vary significantly across Ontario — local experience is non-negotiable.
Permit and Inspection Track Record
A history of pulling their own permits, coordinating all Health Unit inspections, and delivering a Certificate of Completion on every job — not skipping steps and hoping no one notices at sale time.

Contractors who provide fully itemised written quotes — every cost component shown separately. All-in numbers that bury excluded items are a disqualifying pattern we actively screen for.

One Honest Limit to Know
If your situation involves a genuinely complex lot — failed perc test, high water table, Class 4 advanced treatment required, or a Health Unit refusal — a standard installer referral may not be the right first step. In those cases, we will tell you that our Navigation Package ($1,500 flat fee) is the better path before you spend time on quotes that may not address the real underlying problem. We would rather give you that honest steer than send you around in circles.
